The University of Rostock, founded in 1419, is the scientific, economic and cultural center of the city at the Baltic Sea. The Institute of Physics of the University of Rostock has a new well-appointed building since August 2015. There are two theoretical and an experimental quantum optics group. The theoretical quantum optics group led by Prof. Dr. Werner Vogel currently includes two post-doctoral researchers and 6 PhD students.
